How to Download Ayushman Card PDF Online โ€” 2026 Tutorial

Five official methods to download your PMJAY card โ€” by mobile number, Aadhaar, DigiLocker, Ayushman App, and offline at CSC. Every step documented from the actual portal.

Open Official Portal โ†—

Your Ayushman Card โ€” also called the PMJAY card or “golden card” โ€” is the digital proof of your eligibility under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) scheme. You need this card to avail up to โ‚น5 lakh per year in cashless treatment at over 30,000 empanelled hospitals across India.

This dedicated tutorial walks you through every official Ayushman Card download method โ€” using your mobile number, your Aadhaar number, or your PMJAY ID โ€” through five different portals and apps. You will also learn how to print your card, save it to DigiLocker, and what to do if the download fails.

The entire process takes 5 to 10 minutes if your eKYC is already complete. If not, see our separate Ayushman Card eKYC guide first.

โœ“

Before You Start โ€” What You Need Ready

Have these ready in hand. Missing any is the #1 reason users abandon downloads.

  • โœ“Aadhaar Card of the cardholder (mandatory)
  • โœ“Aadhaar-linked mobile number active for OTP
  • โœ“Working internet connection (4G or Wi-Fi)
  • โœ“A device with modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox)
  • โœ“About 5โ€“10 minutes of uninterrupted time
  • โ—‹Optional: Ration card or PMJAY Family ID

If your mobile number is not linked to your Aadhaar, OTP-based download will not work. You can either update your number at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra first, or download the card offline at a CSC (Method 5 below).

1
Method 1 ยท Most Common

Download via PMJAY Beneficiary Portal

This is the official NHA portal method โ€” the most reliable way to download your Ayushman card. Works on any device with a browser.

Step 1: Open the Official Beneficiary Portal

Visit the official PMJAY Beneficiary Portal at beneficiary.nha.gov.in. Always type this URL directly โ€” do not click random search results, as fake portals exist.

Step 2: Choose Login Type and Enter Mobile Number

On the homepage, you will see two options: Beneficiary and Operator. Click the “Beneficiary” tab.

  • Enter your Aadhaar-linked mobile number
  • Tick the consent checkbox
  • Enter the captcha code shown on the screen
  • Click “Verify”

Step 3: Enter the OTP

An OTP will be sent to your mobile number within 30 seconds. Enter the 6-digit OTP and click “Login”. You are now inside the beneficiary dashboard.

Step 4: Search Your Family Record

You will see a search panel. Fill in the dropdowns:

  • Scheme: PMJAY (or PMJAY-Vay Vandana for 70+ seniors)
  • State: Select your state
  • Sub-Scheme: PMJAY
  • District: Select your district
  • Search By: Choose from Family ID, Aadhaar Number, Name, Location, or PMJAY ID

The fastest search method is by Aadhaar Number. Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar and click “Search”.

Step 5: Locate Your Approved Family Member

The system will display your family members. Each row shows a Card Status column:

  • Approved โ€” Ready to download
  • Pending โ€” eKYC under review (wait 15 mins to 24 hours)
  • Not Generated โ€” eKYC not yet done. Complete eKYC first โ†’ see our eKYC guide

Step 6: Click the Download Card Icon

Next to each approved member’s name, you will see a “Download Card” icon (looks like a downward arrow). Click it.

Step 7: Complete Aadhaar Authentication

A pop-up will ask you to authenticate via Aadhaar:

  • Enter the 12-digit Aadhaar number of the cardholder
  • Tick the consent checkbox
  • Click “Verify”
  • Enter the OTP sent to the Aadhaar-linked mobile number
  • Click “Authenticate”

Step 8: Download the PDF

After authentication, the portal will generate your Ayushman Card PDF. Click “Download Card” and the file will be saved to your device’s Downloads folder.

The card contains your PM-JAY ID, QR code, photograph, and beneficiary details โ€” all required at empanelled hospitals.

2
Method 2 ยท Fastest Mobile

Download via Official Ayushman App

The official Ayushman App by the National Health Authority is the fastest method on a smartphone. Published by the NHA, it supports 11+ Indian languages.

Step 1: Install the Official App

  • Android: Open Google Play Store, search “Ayushman Bharat” โ€” the official app shows the NHA logo and is published by National Health Authority
  • iOS: Open App Store, search “Ayushman Bharat”

Warning: Several fake apps with similar names exist. Verify the publisher is “National Health Authority” before installing. Direct link guide: Ayushman App Download.

Step 2: Login With Mobile and OTP

  • Open the app and tap “Beneficiary Login”
  • Enter your Aadhaar-linked mobile number
  • Enter the OTP
  • Select your preferred language (English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Urdu, Kashmiri, Odia)

Step 3: Search Your Family

  • Tap “Search Beneficiary”
  • Choose State and District
  • Select Search By Aadhaar / Mobile Number / Family ID
  • Enter the details and tap Search

Step 4: Select Member and Download

  • Tap the family member whose card you want
  • Tap the “Download Card” button
  • Complete Aadhaar OTP authentication
  • The PDF saves automatically to your phone’s storage under Downloads/Ayushman/

Method 3 ยท Government Mega-Portal

Download via UMANG Portal or App

The UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) platform is the government’s single-window portal for over 1,200 government services โ€” including PMJAY.

Step 1: Open UMANG

Visit web.umang.gov.in or open the UMANG mobile app.

Step 2: Login

  • Login with your mobile number and MPIN
  • New users: register with mobile + Aadhaar in under 2 minutes

Step 3: Search PMJAY Service

In the search bar, type “PMJAY” or “Ayushman Bharat”. Tap the official PMJAY service tile.

Step 4: Choose Download Card

Select “Download Ayushman Card” โ†’ enter your Aadhaar โ†’ complete Aadhaar OTP authentication โ†’ download the PDF.

The UMANG-downloaded card is identical to the one from the PMJAY portal โ€” same QR code, same PMJAY ID, same hospital acceptance.

4
Method 4 ยท Digital Wallet

Download via DigiLocker

DigiLocker is the government’s official digital document wallet. Your Ayushman Card is automatically issued to DigiLocker once it is generated โ€” no fresh authentication needed. Best for retrieving a lost card.

Step 1: Open DigiLocker

Visit digilocker.gov.in or install the DigiLocker app from the Play Store / App Store.

Step 2: Login or Register

  • Existing users: Login with your mobile number, Aadhaar, or username
  • New users: Register using your Aadhaar number โ€” takes 2 minutes

Step 3: Search for Ayushman Bharat Card

  • On the dashboard, click “Search Documents”
  • Type “Ayushman Bharat” or “PMJAY”
  • Select National Health Authority as the issuer

Step 4: Enter Your PMJAY ID

  • Enter your 12-digit Ayushman Bharat ID / PMJAY ID (found on any previous card or in your portal dashboard)
  • Select your state
  • Tick the consent box and click “Get Document”

Step 5: Download the PDF

Your Ayushman Card will appear in the “Issued Documents” section. Click the download icon to save the PDF, or share it directly to email or WhatsApp.

Note: If you do not know your PMJAY ID, you can find it by first logging into beneficiary.nha.gov.in (Method 1) and noting the ID shown next to your name.

5
Method 5 ยท No Internet Needed

Download Offline at a CSC (Common Service Centre)

If you do not have internet access, an Aadhaar-linked mobile number, or are uncomfortable with online portals, the Common Service Centre (CSC) โ€” also called Jan Seva Kendra โ€” is your offline solution. India has over 5 lakh CSCs.

Step 1: Locate Your Nearest CSC

Visit locator.csccloud.in to find the nearest CSC by entering your village or pin code.

Step 2: Carry Required Documents

  • Aadhaar Card (original + photocopy)
  • Ration Card (if available)
  • Mobile phone (any number โ€” Aadhaar-linked mobile not mandatory at CSC)

Step 3: Request Ayushman Card Download

Tell the CSC operator (Village Level Entrepreneur or VLE) that you want to download your Ayushman Card. They will verify your eligibility on the PMJAY portal.

Step 4: Complete Biometric Aadhaar Authentication

At a CSC, authentication is done via fingerprint biometric โ€” so OTP is not needed. Place your fingerprint on the biometric scanner and verify your identity.

Step 5: Collect Printed Card

After successful verification, the CSC operator will print your Ayushman Card and hand you the physical copy. They can also email the PDF or send it to your mobile via WhatsApp.

Note: The Ayushman Card itself is 100% free. However, CSC operators may charge a small service fee (around โ‚น20โ€“โ‚น50) for printing and processing. Always ask for a receipt. If anyone demands more than โ‚น50 or claims the card itself costs money, report it to 14555.

Specific Search Methods

Download by Mobile Number or Aadhaar

Quick clarification on the two most-searched download methods.

๐Ÿ“ฑ

By Mobile Number

You can log in to the PMJAY portal using only your Aadhaar-linked mobile number, but downloading the card itself still requires Aadhaar OTP authentication for security. Both OTPs come to the same Aadhaar-linked mobile, so you only need one phone in hand.

  1. Visit beneficiary.nha.gov.in โ†’ Beneficiary tab
  2. Enter Aadhaar-linked mobile + captcha
  3. Receive OTP โ†’ enter to login
  4. Search using mobile number or Family ID
  5. Click Download Card โ†’ complete Aadhaar OTP
  6. PDF is downloaded
๐Ÿ†”

By Aadhaar Number

This is the most reliable search method since Aadhaar uniquely identifies each beneficiary. If your record isn’t found, see our apply guide or check Vay Vandana for 70+.

  1. Login to beneficiary.nha.gov.in with mobile + OTP
  2. Set Search By โ†’ Aadhaar Number
  3. Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar
  4. Click Search โ†’ record appears
  5. Click Download Card โ†’ Aadhaar OTP authentication
  6. PDF downloads

How to Print and Save Your Ayushman Card?

Once downloaded, here is how to make the most of your card.

Printing Your Ayushman Card

  • Open the downloaded PDF in any PDF reader (Adobe Reader, Foxit, or Chrome browser)
  • Press Ctrl + P (Windows) or Cmd + P (Mac) to print
  • Use A4 size paper, colour print if possible
  • Print 2 copies โ€” keep one in your wallet and one at home
  • Many hospitals also accept the digital PDF directly from your phone screen

Saving to DigiLocker (Recommended)

For a permanent backup, link your card to DigiLocker (see Method 4 above). Once linked, the card is always accessible from any device with your DigiLocker login.

Saving to Google Drive or Email

  • Email the PDF to yourself for cloud backup
  • Upload to Google Drive โ†’ mark as “Important” so you can find it quickly
  • Save a copy on WhatsApp by sending it to your own number
Troubleshooting

Common Download Errors & How to Fix Them

Based on the most-reported issues at the PMJAY helpline.

Error 1: “Aadhaar Authentication Failed”

Cause: Aadhaar number or mobile is not linked, or biometric record mismatch.

Fix: Check Aadhaar-mobile link at resident.uidai.gov.in โ†’ “Verify Mobile/Email”. If unlinked, visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra to update.

Error 2: “OTP Not Received”

Cause: Network issue, full inbox, DND activated, or mobile number not Aadhaar-linked.

Fix: Wait 2 minutes โ†’ click Resend OTP โ†’ switch from 4G to Wi-Fi โ†’ check phone signal. If still failing, use Method 5 (CSC offline) where biometric replaces OTP.

Error 3: “Beneficiary Not Found”

Cause: Family not in SECC 2011 database, wrong state/district selected, or eKYC not done.

Fix: Try different search methods (Family ID, Ration Card, Name). For 70+ seniors, switch scheme to PMJAY-Vay Vandana. If still not found, see Apply Online guide.

Error 4: Card Status Shows “Not Generated”

Cause: Your eKYC is pending or has never been completed.

Fix: Complete eKYC first โ€” full process in our eKYC guide. After eKYC, wait 15 minutes to 24 hours and try downloading again.

Error 5: “Internal Server Error” or Portal Loading Slowly

Cause: High portal traffic, usually between 10 AM โ€“ 6 PM.

Fix: Try early morning (6 AM โ€“ 9 AM) or late evening (10 PM โ€“ 12 AM) when traffic is low. Switch to a different browser (Chrome works best).

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I download the Ayushman Card without going to any office?+
Yes, four out of five methods are completely online โ€” PMJAY portal, Ayushman App, UMANG, and DigiLocker. You only need a CSC visit (Method 5) if you don’t have an Aadhaar-linked mobile or face repeated technical issues. The entire online process takes 5 to 10 minutes from start to finish.
Is the downloaded PDF Ayushman Card accepted at hospitals?+
Yes, the digital PDF Ayushman Card is legally valid at all empanelled hospitals across India. You can either show the PDF on your mobile screen or carry a printed copy. The card’s QR code allows instant verification at the hospital’s reception. There is no requirement to carry a physical plastic card.
How can I download Ayushman Card for my whole family?+
Each eligible family member has their own individual Ayushman Card. After logging into the PMJAY portal and searching your family, you will see a list of all members. Repeat the download process for each member โ€” each card requires its own Aadhaar OTP authentication. The โ‚น5 lakh annual coverage is shared across all family members.
Can I download Ayushman Card using only my Aadhaar number?+
Yes โ€” Aadhaar Number is one of the search methods on the portal. However, to log in initially, you need your Aadhaar-linked mobile number to receive the OTP. Both work together โ€” the mobile is for login, Aadhaar is for the actual card authentication and download.
What is the difference between Ayushman Card and Ayushman Bharat Health Card?+
They are the same card โ€” Ayushman Bharat Health Card, PMJAY Card, Ayushman Card, and Golden Card all refer to the same document. Note that this is different from the ABHA Card (Ayushman Bharat Health Account), which is a digital health ID for storing medical records but does not provide insurance. Detailed comparison: ABHA vs Ayushman Card.
How can I download Ayushman Card if I don’t remember my PMJAY ID?+
You don’t need to remember the PMJAY ID โ€” you can search by Aadhaar number, mobile number, ration card number, or your name. Your PMJAY ID is auto-fetched once the system finds your record. The PMJAY ID is only required for the DigiLocker method (Method 4) โ€” and even then, you can find it in your beneficiary portal dashboard.
What if my Ayushman Card downloads but the QR code looks blurry?+
A blurry or unreadable QR code usually means the PDF was downloaded with a low-resolution connection. Re-download the card using a strong Wi-Fi or 4G connection. If the issue persists, try Method 4 (DigiLocker) โ€” DigiLocker stores high-resolution copies of the card. If still blurry, visit a CSC to get a fresh print.
